Hi Everyone,
Well here's something that may make you all laugh your socks off!!
I have had much the same experience as you all.
Unlucky for them I did some research and had been told that the offer they had given me was too low and something would go wrong.
Like clockwork the form I had filled out for finance was apparently 'rejected' by Barclays and they said unless I paid upfront they wouldn't do it.I asked them for Barclays number and called them. Guess what - apparently my form never even made to to Barclays.
When I questioned someone at safetyle he said he would speak to his finance team, might I add he didn't seem suprised when I said it hadn't been recieved apparently someone at their head office decided I would be rejected, he hastened to add that the person from Barclays didn't know what he was talking about when he said there was no reason my form would be denied. He also said the salesman from safestyle didn't know what he was talking about hwen he said I would be accepted for finance.
I flipped and asked him why he thought it was ok to waste my time filling out forms and having surveyors around if the option for finance wasn't even an option.
I told him how I had recently been informed that they were up to these sort of tactics when they didn't make enough out of a sale and asked him what he proposed to do about it.
Was he going to submit my form or not, he said he would get finance to sort it out......obviously I have not heard from them.
But John has heard from me :).......every day.... three times a day, for the past three days after he stupidly gave me his private line and name.
I will update you on the progress - will they fit them or wont they!

I had a call from 'The Claims Guys' this morning. Normally I don't answer if I don't recognise the number - I Google it and if it's a nuisance caller like The Claims Guys/LeadX I answer the second time telling them they've got the wrong number. Works a treat :)

Anyway... they 'had reason to believe' I'd been mis-sold PPI. When I asked where they'd got this information the caller said either from Swinton Insurance or The Insurance Guys. Now I've never done any business with either of these firms, but it's possible they got the information a price comparison website. The only one I've used in the last year or so is confused.com, and I'm always careful to opt out...

For the benefit of those using a search engine, the number they called me from came up as 002031671196.

We had a new front door fitted by safestyle approx 3yrs ago. They tell you it is guaranteed for 10 years. However we have had nothing but trouble with it raining in and draughts blowing through it. We have contacted them numerous times and they have been out and resealed it- but still raining in above doorframe and blowing a gale. In the end I threatened to report them to trading standards and they just said we could but it would cost ME a lot more to take them to court!! And yes if u get any work done with them u can expect to get bombarded with phonecalls from them afterwards. What a Crap company!

Just had SafeStyle salesmen at my door last night.
First one wanted name marriage status address teleh
Phone number etc wanted to give a free quote tomorrow.
I said pop it through the door, he says postal quotes are not allowed....I wonder why?
I send him on his way as I don't want a sales pitch to receive a personal quote.
2 mins later another turns up and apologises for his trainee but he can offer a quote as long as me and my wife are in tomorrow to discuss it. I refuse and say thanks but no thanks.
5 minutes later his manager is on the phone thanking me for arranging a meeting with me and my wife tomorrow evening to discuss our new windows.
I asked how a refusal was turned into an arranged meeting and he does the "you will be missing a great discount opportunity etc."
I politely say no thanks and explain I am not impressed that 2 refusals of an appointment can translate to a sales meeting in my home. He isn't impressed and starts his sales pitch once more. I say I am surprised they sell anything with the tactics employed and he's upset. Cheerios phone down.
He isn't finished and calls again.
If they are willing to cheat at this stage you would've a fool to let them start altering your house and taking money from you. I just bet their credit arrangement still has PPI.

[...] Paul Yarrow of south London definitely has a hobby: he likes to appear on television. So whenever a news camera crew gets set up in a public venue, he hangs around in the background on camera. He has appeared in the background of live news reports on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky News at random locations and at random times. It seems like if there is a camera crew about at the moment, he is there too!Allegedly, Yarrow wants to become a cast member on Big Brother. (Link | Via) [...]

Paul

If you are reading this, maybe if you spent your energy trying to get a job in the media or otherwise rather than wasting your money on travelling around and popping up like a bad smell on the news you would have money for your parents funeral.

I think it is also a bit disrespectful for you to turn up to funerals/ memorials just to get yourselve on TV it was amusing it is now rather sad.
